Daisaku Ikeda is the president of Soka Gakkai International. He was born January 2, 1928 in Tokyo, Japan and met Josei Toda at age 19 who was the general director of Soka Gakkai then and later became the second president. Mr. Ikeda called Toda his mentor and worked with him for only nine years till Toda's passing. There is no individual on earth cherishes and treasures this human to human relationship of mentor and disciple more than Mr. Ikeda does who says, even fifty years after the passing of his mentor, "My dream is to realize Josei Toda's dream." (A message to the junior highschool students. Janurary 1, 2008)
